Monitoring of the newborn

The purpose of monitoring the newborn is to determine the activity or the normal baby would not identify the problem and newborn health that needs attention as well as family and auxiliary health workers did not go.
 first 2 hours after birth:
It is assessed:
- The ability to suck strong or weak.
- Infants appear to be active or limp.
- Baby red or blue.

- Baby small for baby during pregnancy or less months.
- Respiratory Disorders.
- Hypothermia.
- Infection.
- Congenital defects and birth trauma.

Situation normal baby clinic immediately after birth

a. Awareness and reaction to the surroundings:

b. Active
Normal infants make the movements of hands and feet at the time symmetric wake. The existence of tremor in the lips, feet and hands at the time of crying is normal, but if this happens at bedtime, possible symptoms of a birth that need further examination.
c. Symmetrical
Is the whole body in balance.
d. Head

e. Face / face
Infants without expression.

f. Eyes
Observed any signs of bleeding in the form of red spots will disappear within 6 weeks.
g. Mouth

h. Neck, chest and abdomen
See any injuries from childbirth.
i. Ridge

j. Shoulders, arms, joints, limbs

k. Skin and nail
In normal skin reddish color sometimes get a mild skin peeling. Excessive exfoliation should consider the possibility of disorder. n. Reflexes

o. Weight loss
Should be monitored every day, weight loss 75% of body weight at birth indicate dehydration.
